Den of Light

Here's a series from the project I mentioned in my blog post, You Au Naturel.

My goal is to capture different facets of a person's personality in a purely natural way, meaning using natural light to showcase spontaneous gestures and expressions. Imagine yourself In your favorite clothes, doing your favorite things...or just being. In your "natural habitat" or not.

You in the raw, although not naked (!), exposed by beautiful light. I hit the jackpot by shooting in my den for this session. My patio outside the almost-floor-to celing windows was still covered in snow. It meant that literally we were shooting with a huge softbox of natural light that lit Nikki in extremely soft, diffused light.

Many thanks to Nikki. You are beautiful inside and out. And such fun!! A little Brazilian music and we were off to the races!

Gotcha!! FINALLY!!!

Well, it has taken all winter, but I finally got more than a glimpse of my cardinal. He is incredibly timid. Every time I walk in a room or go outside, he flies away!! I had to hide behind Daisy's dog bed for this shot. Of course, this is not the image I had envisioned, but beggars can't be choosers...as they say...and trust me, I have been begging!

One of My Favorite Neighbors

I was literally in the middle of a portrait session the other day, and my neighbor showed up for a peek. He usually walks right across my patio, a few feet from the house. I only had time to swivel around...no time to change my lens, but I shot him anyway. He has been visiting a lot lately. I think he is really hungry. I hope he is okay. This winter has been so harsh...

The Beauty of "Gray Hair"

Coco is nine years old. What you don't know is that she didn't always have four white whiskers on her right cheek. She was an all black cat...every bit of her. The white whiskers have only appeared in the last year. She's even more beautiful now with her "gray hair", don't you think?
